The internal mother and child and Birth

The internal mother and child and Birth

This Talk is about one of the seminars in Holographic Breathing.  In this seminar we experience the relationship between our inner Mother and Child, and the birth that unfolds between them.

The experience of the inner mother and child and their journey through birth, first happened to me whilst I was working with the pelvis.  Later it became one of the journeys taught in Holographic Breathing.

I had been discovering how the individual bones of the pelvis breathe and move with Holographic Breathing.  Once I could feel this, I started being able to feel the qualities of the five elements in these bones - each bone was relating to one of the elements - Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Ether.  The movement of these bones is at a physical level, the five elements and qualities of the bones are at a more subtle level.  Also looking at the energies and bones separately is at a particular level. But once these movements and qualities start flowing back and forth between the bones, complementing each other, then the pelvis becomes a very fluid structure, and it feels like it is reflected in the cosmos.  When I watched this in myself, it felt like my pelvis completely melted and became a portal to the universe.  There was a quality of creation to this new energy.

On a fundamental level the pelvis holds the experience of creation.  Life is created in our pelvis, and I felt I was connecting to this same quality in the universe - the energy that stars and galaxies are created from.

Needless to say, most participants who go on this journey find this experience lovely.

The experiencing of the pelvis melting and reflecting deep space attracts us down to it, and as the viewer, I naturally dropped into the pelvis.  Once there, I started having the experience of being a baby, and as I dropped further in the pelvis this initiated the start of a birth process.

Generally in this modern age, people view from the cranium.  But with Holographic Breathing the viewer can travel through the body.  So we can drop into the heart, and from there view up to the head or down to the pelvis.  Or we can drop into the pelvis and view up through the whole body or down through the pelvic floor.

For people participating in this seminar, when dropping into the pelvis, it activates the experience of being a baby in birth. There is also another part to this. When dropping back and viewing more from the body, there is the experience of being our inner mother giving birth.  There can only be a baby being born if there is a mother giving birth.  These two are a complementary pair; they arise together.  As the viewer it is possible to spread through the whole body, so it is possible to be both mother and baby together in birth.

This is not a memory of our physical birth, but the activation of a new birth.  This unfolds between our intrinsic inner mother and child and is in present time.

As our inner mother, with holographic breathing the bones of the pelvis are opening and closing with the breath, and the whole area becomes more spacious.

As the baby I could feel the bones breathing and everything opening up.  I was slowly dropping deeper and enjoying a wonderful energy as if I was being held in the universe.

There is an historical urgency around birth. In nature we're very vulnerable to attack at this time, and through the ages there is pain and also the fear of complications.  This urgency tends to move the experience along.  In this inner experience, this is not necessary, as there is neither pain, nor danger.  In letting go of this tendency we can slow the experience down and in this we are becoming creative as we are no longer following old patterns.  Also as we slow down, it becomes pleasurable, and we can experience the full energies that become available at this time and enjoy the unfolding journey.

The mother and child are deeply bonded, but they are also experiencing the opposite side of birth to each other. Together they make a whole.  When slowing down the experience, it becomes possible to feel these opposites moving back and forth between the two.  The mother may be feeling an ache in her pelvis, but the baby experiences this as a pressure in its cranium. This pressure balances between mother and child until it melts into energy.  One cannot heal without the other, and for something to heal in the cranium; it also has to heal in the pelvis.  When the mother and child are together, the experience becomes whole. All the different parts complement each other and can dissolve.

When we are working with the different bones of the pelvis they mirror the bones of the face and cranium.  The pelvis and cranium are the same thing but on different levels like octaves in music.

The pelvis is the chalice and more connected to the earth. And the cranium is more connected to the heavens.

When these two come together in birth, the bones and energies of the baby’s cranium are meeting their reflection in the mother’s pelvis, and on this inner journey the complementary parts of heaven and earth are also coming together with in us.

Through this experience peoples image of birth often changes.  Generally people view the pelvis as continually opening through labour with pauses between contractions.  But as the mother in this experience, the pelvis is opening on the in-breath and closing on the out-breath, so the motion becomes a breath.  This is relaxing and it takes the urgency out of the equation.  On the out breaths, the pelvis is able to close and this gives the feeling of massaging the baby through its journey.  On another level it feels like physically imparting the motion of the breath to the baby through the pelvis and uterus.

For the baby it also feels very good to receive the physicality of the breath as being massaged by the mother’s pelvis and uterus.  The contractions are long breaths, and the breath is shorter breaths within that.  In Holographic Breathing, the whole body breaths as if we can feel the breath in every cell.  Being born in this way, we are embodying the physical movement of the breath from the mother ready for coming earth side.

After a while as the baby I could see the two sit bones coming down either side of my cranium, I was starting to come out.  As the mother, the baby is now through the whole genitalia, and the mouth of the vagina and pelvis are slowly opening.  This is a good time to slow down and enjoy the experience.  The nerves that feel pain in birth are the same nerves that produce orgasm.  As this unfolds in hand with the earth and universe it has a pleasurable quality and travels deep in side.

The baby is half of this experience, and slowly I was born to my self and the universe.  When I was fully out I brought myself to my breast and started to suckle.  Once I was there I could strongly feel the energies of the earth and universe pouring down on me.

Suckling is very easy with Holographic Breathing, as the movement of the mouth in this breathing is like a very subtle form of suckling.  Suckling is perfect, the babies body falls in line with the motion of the mouth, and the same motion of the breath that was first passed on by the mother travels though its whole body.  Everything starts aligning, breathing and communicating.

The feeling of being the mother breast-feeding was also very pleasurable, and I could feel it helping to integrate the pelvis from the birth and stimulate the placenta to be born.

Born anew, I spent some time resting and breast-feeding.  There was a deep sense of love and caring between us that seemed palpable in the air around.  Also there was a wonderful sense of energy, love and caring from the heavens and earth that were there like benevolent parents.

After awhile when everything seemed to have come to a place of quiet rest, I let the mother and baby merge into one, as this is what they seemed to want to do.

Occasionally over the next few days I would start feeling a little anxious, and looking round there would be my inner child.  After a bit of loving and caring all would be well again.

As a man I had not been expecting to experience the female side of birth, but on taking people on this journey it seems just as available in men as in women.

A few months before I had been in a sweat lodge, and the shaman had said that spirit was going to teach me what it was like to give birth.  I was not sure I was so taken with the idea at the time.  But when this experience happened with Holographic Breathing it was freeing, and the next day everything looked very new.

When teaching this to a lady, who had trained as a natural midwife, with shamans in the Amazon, she mentioned that shamans have to experience birth for themselves before they can be a midwife, and she felt this internal birth was the same experience they were talking of.

Anyway I was happy, and since this time many participants have gone on this Journey with Holographic Breathing.  It has helped many mothers as a preparation to their birth, many having the experience that this is what the pelvis is made for and feeling less afraid in their birth.  The connections to the universal and earth energies are also helpful and give a grounding to hold birth.

The description of this may seem a bit strange but in the experience of the journey, it all comes very naturally.  It is one of the later seminars in Holographic Breathing so by this time participants are more experienced.  This is normally a favourite seminar for people.  Everyone I can remember has naturally dropped into it and most have a profound experience of this rite of passage and the energies that come to play in childbirth.
